Dedicated to the memory of Pat and Dave

This site is a tribute to Pat and Dave.  They are much loved and will always be remembered.

We truly hope that all who have known and have cherished the love and friendship of Pat and Dave, will choose to remember the good times with them, the fun, the laughter and the sheer joy of their company.  They were both such special people who inspired and enriched the lives of those around them.  They will be greatly missed.

We have chosen to support the charity Epilepsy Action in memory of Pat and Dave.  Donations can be made via this webpage for those who wish to do so.

I can’t believe that Mum and Dad are gone and we are totally devastated to lose them. They brought colour, life, love and laughter to the lives of us all. Such very special people, Mum and Dad were not only our parents, they were our best friends too. Throughout our lives, they have loved, cherished and guided us, and we will miss them every single day. These are my special messages to them both: To my lovely, beautiful Mum, ‘”You were the shining light in my heart and brought joy to my soul. You were not just my Mum, but you were also my inspiration, my comfort, my very special friend - I was so lucky to have you as my Mum and so proud of you. I will miss you forever. Your beauty was inside and out. Thank you for being there, for supporting me, for loving me unconditionally. I love you Mum, you will be in our hearts forever and we will always remember…” Penny x To my wonderful, special, Dad… my Dadge, “I never imagined just a few weeks ago that I would no longer have you by my side and I miss you dreadfully. Thank you for being such a wonderful, caring Dad – we were kindred spirits and the best of friends. I will always treasure the very special memories of our times together and will deeply miss your love, guidance and encouragement. I’m so proud of you and what you have achieved. You will always have a very special place in my heart, take care Dadge, love you forever…” Penge x

Whether as parents, grandparents, in-laws or friends, Pat and Dave were universally loved and we are all missing them terribly. They had the misfortune to meet me for the first time 33 years ago. I didn’t know at the time I was to become their son-in-law. If I did I’m fairly sure I wouldn’t have: a) trampled over their sofa in my muddy shoes trying to play snooker or; b) tried to mimic Dave’s accent, very poorly and upsetting the entire household. In spite of this inauspicious introduction, Pat and Dave were happy to see their only daughter, Penny, marry me. Penny is the person she is, and the person I wanted to marry because Pat and Dave were loving, caring and respectful parents. The four of us subsequently developed a strong family relationship. We had holidays and Christmases together, including later on with our daughters, fun family barbeques, and so many other happy and joyful times. I miss them both already: speaking with Dave about the Test match and Pat’s calm, easy-going way. They always made time for their friends and family and I feel they made me part of their family. As the Irish side of my family might say: Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha. May they rest in peace.

Pat and Dave, dear neighbours for 28 years. Our thoughts are with Penny and Trevor and their families at such a sad time. A lovely couple who will be dearly missed but very much remembered by everyone who new them. Rest in Peace together. Deirdre, Rick, Rhiannon, Christopher and Bronwen Smith xxx
